Running in pink to give hope to women battling breast cancer

I'm not much of a runner, but this March I decided to wear pink and participate in the 2021 RACQ International Womens Day Fun Run, supporting women with breast cancer.

Like many of you I have been personally touched by the impacts of cancer. I remember when we found out my two aunts had breast cancer. They were in their thirties with a full life ahead of them. The surgery, chemo and years of treatment were intense and took its toll. Sadly, they both lost their lives 6 months apart while they were in their forties.

So, this year, I have decided to give it my best shot at raising as much as I can to help. I know how important this fundraising drive is to take some of the stress off women with breast cancer and their families.

Raising funds to support women with breast cancer

I am honored to be part of the 2021 RACQ International Women's Day Fun Run, raising funds to support women with breast cancer now and into the future by funding breast cancer research that focuses on improving survival rates, working toward a world where ALL women diagnosed with breast cancer survive.

The more money raised, the more women and families we can help.

  • $65 helps fund innovative research for chemotherapy
  • $110 helps restore a women’s confidence after breast removal surgery by purchasing them a mastectomy bra.
  • $170 helps restore a woman's confidence when they lose their hair due to chemotherapy by providing them with a scarf or wig to wear.
  • $235 helps fund research towards improving survival rates of breast cancer.

Running in pink for a good cause

It was a beautiful morning out in Brisbane City with a huge turnout of participants in a sea of pink, who together raised over $1.4 million! What an achievement!

You can help, too!

Any amount is greatly appreciated, and will certainly help in my commitment to raise more funds for my participation and help the Mater Foundation in its mission to end breast cancer forever.

Please support if you can via this link.

In loving memory of Usha and Beetha. Remembering all the good times!
