We sat down with Andrew King, Director of Hills Robes & Screens, to discover how he’s building on a proud legacy, empowering his team,
and raising the benchmark for home storage solutions on the Sunshine Coast.

1. Can you tell us about the Hills Robes and Screens story and how it came to be?
Hills Robes and Screens was started by someone other than me. It was his second shop, the original being in Adelaide. It was taken over by a couple who have now sold it to me as of February 2025. It was previously run as a cost-effective solution for wardrobe interiors and sliding doors. I intend on improving the offerings of Hills and provide high-end finishes and complete joinery wardrobes.
2. What makes Hills Robes and Screens unique?
Hills Robes is a family-run cabinet making shop who specialise in wardrobes. We pride ourselves on great customer service through quick responses and quoting.
3. What’s something about Hills that people might not see from the outside but that makes a big difference on the inside?
From the outside, Hills might look like a traditional cabinet and door business, but on the inside, we’re constantly improving systems, technology, and processes to make things run smoother and smarter.
4. What excites you most about the future of Hills and the team you’re a part of?
I am excited for all the major changes I have implemented over the last year. Now the groundwork is set, I am anticipating growth over the coming years. The team is really starting to work together. With the help of Your Business Momentum, I have set values and expectations of staff. After sharing the vision, I feel we are all coming together to continue to improve Hills.
5. What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned as a leader?
Leadership isn’t about having all the answers; it’s about owning the outcomes, learning from mistakes, and helping the team grow alongside the business.
6. What opportunities do you see for businesses in your industry, and what are you most looking forward to?
There’s a big opportunity for businesses in our industry to modernise and streamline systems, use better technology, and cut down wasted time. I’m most looking forward to seeing how these changes lift quality and free our team up to focus on what we do best.
